...i can't find the old thread, so i'll start a new one.....
just peeped this last week. anyone seen this? what did you think?
(Drama) A re-telling of the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in 1968. The film follows 22 individuals who are all at the hotel for different purposes but share the common thread of anticipating Kennedy's arrival at the primary election night party, which would change their lives forever. This historic night is set against the backdrop of the cultural issues gripping the country at the time, including racism, sexual inequality and class differences.

Me and the missus watched The Descent last night.... the UK version with the proper ending. I enjoyed it, after a reasonably slow and unbelievable start.
Also watched Five Fingers of Death at the weekend, we both ended up going to sleep. The first ten minutes are pretty poor, then it speeds up, then it slows right down again.
We've also been watching loads of Family Guy... but that doesn't really count on a film thread.... |

^^^ I aint never seen no other movie about Bobby Kennedy and/or about his assassination. I can tell you this, though....this movie really makes you think, "what if...?"
"Other issues to address" = what would happen if Luke went to the dark side/the empire - would the alliance survive.....??

That's the joint were these chicks get stuck in some subterrainean caves (or something) and get systematically killed by some "thing" (I cant even explain what that sh*t looks like)??

I hear this movie is good!
I know my Grandmother liked what Bobby Kennedy stood for so that says alot cause she did care for many political figures!!

After Vader died ROTJ in the Star Wars expaned universe series Luke does turn to the darkside for a spell and a another fact is even good jedi have a darkside to them very easy to be seduced by the darkside of the force! |

yo know, Ready Red...I had no idea what he was all about prior to watching this movie (other than helping JFK on the Bay of Pigs blunder), but as far as his political agenda and ambitions, i can only imagine how the US would've changed had he stepped into office - for the betterment of the people...equal rights, etc. He also wanted an immediate withdrawl of soldiers in Vietnam....nobody knowing (at that time) that we'd still be there for 6 more years after his assassination.....

they should make a new episode/movie (in the same vein of 'Flags of our fathers'/'letters from iwo jima'), but having the movie from the empire/dark side's perspective, over one of the battles. or would that be counter-productive to the saga??

| RChecka - the end of the UK one is MUCH better. Proper creepy... the US version stops one scene early! There's another bit after the ending you would have seen... unless you saw the UK one, that is. |

Put it like this..Scarface and Miami Vice basically tailored their shows on the lives and times of the drug trade from the 70-ealry mid 80's in Miami...joint is no joke..talks about all the usual suspects..Escobar, Nore, etc..but the kicker is that they were all wokking for another dude name Ochoa and believe it or not a woman (Graciella) aka the God mother!!!
This woman in NOOOO JOKE!!! Tells the tale from the sides of the trafficers (a dude from Miami via NYC and his other boy from Miami and how they alll got LARGE beyond belief...also tells the tale from the side of the hitmen and THE GODMOTHERS boyfriend,,a black dude from cali (forgot his name) This movie is a must have IMO |

| I saw that Cocaine Cowboys a few weeks back, pretty decent documentary, but better suited to TV I thought. Movies I've seen lately include Casino Royale (best Bond film for years, and one of the best action movies I've seen of late), and the 40 Year Old Virgin (quite amusing, if not great). Planning on seeing 'The last king of Scotland' on Thursday, looks pretty decent from the clips I've seen. |

Just saw this on cable this weekend...
on the independent tip...tragic story about 2 brothers living in Washington Heights who basically pay for the sins of their father...good stuff...unpolished and raw...and very NY.
