Let's try to get a definitive list on all the faster UK hip hop that all came out around 1990.

Here's a couple to roll with:

Hardnoise - Untitled

Hijack - Doomsday of rap

Man, I have long playlists of this stuff...

Check out Silver Bullet - Bring Down the Walls LP.

Gunshot's "Patriot Games" is a bit later than 90, but solid all the same.
The title track in particular always gets me moving.

Though if you guys want to have a browse,
remember there're loads of samples on here:

Heh, intersting idea skam...

Probably not as simple as that though.
There was a fairly steady movement towards
the end of the 80s that led into 90s techno.

I think however you look at it though,
the whole gangsta / G-funk era that came after
the 'fast' stage of 90-93 *wasn't* going to settle that well in the UK.
Despite the crossover now, back then it just didn't suit us much.

this jhas just reminded me of something that bertram(Newtrament) said me many years ago before the acid house and drum'n'bass was about. i guess it was sometime in the mid 80s... anyway he was telling me of his prediction of future music in the UK, basically what he explained to me was drum'n'bass. he saying music would change and speed up like 180bpm with breaks, cuts, mad distorted base sounds, etc. funny enuff in 1989 i put some beats together using gordons war and bongolia, then i put down and forgot about it for a while. then i started working on another track at home using 'samba soul' and Soul Searcher's 'Blow Your Whistle'which became the paradox track 'soul feel free. then all of a sudden ronin added to my 1st track what became know as jailbreak behind and releasedit. i got completely ripped off on both track in the end. grrrrr we live and learn.. anyway getting back to the point, what Newtrament explained to me, i was now making musc towards that dirction even so it was hip hop based..... i better stop waffling now lol....

peace

This form of Hip Hop is better known now as Britcore...you guys who need schooling on the UK Hip Hop tip need to check the forum at You must be logged in to see this link. ...there's so much stuff on there.

There is a crew called Killa Instinct who started out as a crew called Total Fiasco from 1989, had a 12 out called Method To The Madness...pure fire, crazy fast...the MC, Bandog still drops mad fast lyrics and kills it too!
