Boogie Boys are one of my favourite groups, consistantly released quality records, I also like all their albums.
The 'Zodiac' 12" single with 'Breakdancer' and 'Shake and Break' has to be one of the best old school 12's. 3 quality jams on single!!
I think their production was way ahead of alot of the competition back in 84/85. Maybe thats the benefit of being on a label like Capitol?
Great group!!

I've been meaning to ask: Has anyone ever heard of two boogie boys tracks called "kick the power" & "love me tender", both on 101 records 1990. Are they any good?
"Runnin' from your love" is their best IMO.
I know you got fans that's in the house but you ain't got'em no more 'cause they're my fans now. |

I liked the Boogie Boys too, Zodiac, Breakdancer, Party Asteroid, Dealin' With Life, Fly Girl etc.. were all great tracks, the dub of Party Asteroid wicked too along with a lot of the other dub versions. I also liked 'This Is Us' from the Romeo Knight LP, up there with the tunes I just mentioned for me.

i got a 12" from that last LP but I cant play it it.... wobbly like pizza.... which is a shame. an old phonograph of mine used to play it and it's great... cant even recall the title....
I like CITY LIFE LP one of the few from that era that i can play from start to the end....
BREAKDANCER / ZODIAC & DO OR DIE are my all tiem fave BOOGIE BOYS joints...
RAPPIN AINT NO THING is superb but seems like its from a different group cos the stlye is so radically out of wack with their later stuff... This is a great example of old school funk and one of my most played early rap 12"s....
what ever became of MIKE & DAVE...?
It's a definite must, that I get loose! |

PEACE IT WAS A DIFFERENT GROUP. THE ORIGINAL BOOGIE BOYS WERE KOOL-SKI AND KID DELIGHT. THEN ONCE THEY WENT TO CAPITOL KOOL-SKI LEFT THE GROUP AND CAPITOL ADDED JD AND ROMEO. DELIGHT LAYED HIS VOCALS WHILE IN THE SERVICE AND THE OTHER TWO WENT OUT AS THE BOOGIE BOYS. WHEN BOOGIE KNIGHT GOT OUT THE SERVICE HE CAME BACK TO THE GROUP FULL TIME BUT THERE WAS A LOT OF ISSUES AND HE SOON LEFT THE GROUP. HE SOON GOT BACK INTO THE BUSINESS AND RECORDED AND PRODUCED UNDER THE NAME 9X DELIGHT. I FINALLY CONVINCED HIM TO GO BACK TO BOOGIE KNIGHT KID DELIGHT. WE RECORDED A MIX TAPE/DEMO IT FEATURED CUTS WITH AFRIKA BAMBAATAA, REGGIE REG,AND ME. THE LEAD SINGLE GOT PICKED UP FOR THE SOUND TRACK TO THE MOVIE SCRATCH. THE SAME DAY IT GOT PICKED UP HE WAS MURDERED. A WEEK BEFORE WE JUST FINISHED HIS SECOND JOINT AND WE WERE WORKING ON TRACKS FOR THE 3RD. WE LOST A GREAT ARTIST AND HUMAN BEING ON THAT OCTOBER AFTERNOON. HE WILL BE MISSED.
AS FAR AAS MIKE AND DAVE ARE CONCERNED THEY ARE CHILLIN' DOIN WELL. I AM WAITING FOR THE DAY WHEN THEY FINALLY GET THEIR PROPS CAUSE HIP-HOP WAS BULL**** IN MANHATTAN UNTIL THEY CHANGED THE GAME WITH A GROUP CALLED THE CRASH CREW/POISON CLAN. PEACE
