Kraftwerk means energy plant (hope this is the correct term in english), e.g. cole plant or nuclear plant are both "Kraftwerk"s

Actually i love nearly everthing of them, but theres one track that hits the mark, its "BOING BUM TSCHAK" (sometimes also called Music Non Stop, but i don't know if theres a version of music non stop whitout the "boing-bum-tschak-voice")

BOING BUMM TSCHAK PENG! BOING BUMM TSCHAK ZZZZZZZZZZZOING! BOING BUMM TSCHAK PENG! BOING BUMM TSCHAK ZZZZZZZZZZZOING! BOING BUMM TSCHAK PENG! BOING BUMM TSCHAK ZZZZZZZZZZZOING! - Electronic music in its essence...

Iz u iz or iz u aint?

They have a very pure sound.
Ralph & Florian is a good un, computer world, autobahn, tour de france, etc

Very underrated in the wider music world.

Kraftwerk put out some ill stuff. The only album I have is “Computer World”, but I have the “Tour de France” single on 12” and CD single as well as “Trans-Europe Express” on a compilation. When electro was big in hip hop, Kraftwerk cuts were getting airplay on Lady B’s radio show. I have definitely got to buy the rest of their albums at some point.

I have several Krafwerk lp's with my favorite being 'Computer World'. 'Tour De France' was re-released several months back on double vinyl and some new mixes.

thank u for the response gentlemen>...

I have yet to go out and buy TOUR DE FRANCE... surely the track that had the biggest influence on early WEST COAST TECHNO-HIPHOP ELECTRO sheet!!!!

I still love THE MODEL cos that has immaculate pop appeal!!!

STEP & POACH mentions THE CAN, which are an amazing group... altho' I only own MONSTER MOVIE LP which I've been told is brill palce to start...(I agree!) and a dope jam called called MUSHROOM.... Is it true that the drummer was JAMES BROWN affiliated at some point>........?

back to KRAFTWERK.... which album was AUTOBAHN from... a pap pap pap for ze autobahnnnn!!!

Can are the ****. Think JB gave Jaki the drummer props ar some point in the eighties... but that guy did a remix of PLANET ROCK which noone knows of, no leads whatsoever...
anyway, get the can dvd for some great music and a live concert (the drummer doesnt stop for the whole gig!

Autobahn was an lp on its own, dope as hell, but also on comp Exceller8(maybe others).

Tago mago is also a grwat can lp. think thats the one after monster movie. I got flow motion, more reggae/disco-y...

peace.

Saw Kraftwerk in March Ed for the second time & the show was amazing, to say the least:)
Kraftwerk were major players on the electronic music scene. As were Can & Tangerine Dream.
Kraftwerk wer originally called Organisation in 1969 & consisted of just Ralph & Florian. Their album Tone Float is complete bollox so avoid at all costs.
My fave albums are:
Computer World
Electric Cafe(originally called Techno Pop)
T E E
Man Machine

I'm going to see the The ex drummer Karl Bartos on Sat 16th @ The Mint Club in Leeds, can't wait!!

And Ed, the story behind Showroom Dummies? A journalist once said that
the 2 old drummers, Karl Bartos & Wolfgang Flur, looked like showroom dummies. They found this highly amusing & wrote the song then:)

Go see them if you can - ANYBODY. Their shows aren't just "a show". They are an experience!!;)

I like them more for being innovative and ahead of their time than for their tunes. I've only got "the mix" which is a best-of album. I don't really want anything else of theirs except maybe "the model". "Radioactivity" is their best IMO.

Anyone heard the balanescu quartet? They did covers of Kraftverk joints on classic instruments. That was HOT!

I know you got fans that's in the house
but you ain't got'em no more 'cause they're my fans now.

Just wanted to vouch for the band Can being amazing too. The two records with japanese sounding names are the best. It's way more freaky compared to Kraftwerk, so you have to be able to handle a little weirdness in your music... but they put some of the best grooves ever.

yo let us not sleep on WE ARE THE ROBOTS

supershocked elektroid spazmatick track

yo recently i checked Kraftwerk's website and they had a .mov of their new live show - that was bananas.

mad lazers - futuristic - the music was slammin too.

if you get a chance - check out "Man, Machine and Music" by Wolfgang Flur. tales from back in the day. they invented their own drum machines and synths. bad ass

plus my man's name is Wolfgang

And my favourite Kraftwerk LP is 'Die Mensch-Maschine', My favourite Kraftwerk tune has to be 'Trans-Europa Express', however 'Die Roboter' and 'das Modell' are my favourites too!
